Unlocking the Full Potential of Cannabis with Stonington Blend Growers Mix

At Coast of Maine Organic Products, we pride ourselves on creating high-quality, organic soil solutions that cater to a wide range of plants. One of our most specialized products is the Stonington Blend Growers Mix, developed specifically for growing cannabis.

The Science Behind Stonington Blend

We started with lobster compost, a well-known compost that offers incredible benefits for cannabis. Lobster compost is rich in calcium and chitin, which helps promote strong plant structure and disease resistance. We wanted to create a soil mix with the right biological diversity—a key factor for cannabis growth.

In addition to lobster compost, we added:

  • Kelp: Provides essential micronutrients like a vitamin supplement for your plants.
  • Mycorrhizae: Aids in nutrient absorption through beneficial fungi.
  • Alfalfa meal: A source of nitrogen and other nutrients.
  • Fish bone meal: Critical during the budding phase for its high phosphorus content.
  • Coco fiber, peat, and perlite: These components ensure proper drainage and moisture retention, creating the perfect environment for cannabis roots.

By building this rich, diverse soil, we’ve created an ecosystem where cannabis plants can thrive with minimal intervention. The goal is to allow plants to “feed themselves” naturally, fostering independence much like a parent guiding a child.

Choosing the Right Container for Your Grow

A common question among growers is: "What size container should I use?" While some may grow in larger, 15-gallon containers, many growers are tight on space and use smaller containers, typically between 3 and 10 gallons. The size of your container plays a significant role in the plant’s feeding needs.

For example, if you’re growing in a 5-gallon container, you’ll likely have enough nutrients to last through a 30-day vegetative (veg) phase. After that, you may need to supplement nutrients depending on how long you veg and bud the plant.

Dry Granular vs. Liquid Fertilizers

When feeding cannabis plants, you have two main options: dry granular or liquid fertilizers. In smaller containers, we recommend liquid fertilizers like our Liquid Squid, which is easier to apply and provides more control over nutrient levels.

Liquid Squid has an NPK (Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium) ratio of 2-3-0, making it an excellent choice for transitioning from the vegetative to the budding phase. Its high phosphorus content helps support large, healthy buds, while the nitrogen keeps the plant growing strong.

Alternatively, for larger containers, our Stonington Blend Plant Food offers a dry granular option. With an NPK of 5-2-4, it’s perfect for the veg phase, providing a slow-release form of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. The added lobster meal, kelp meal, and worm castings provide additional nutrients and beneficial microbes.

Nurturing Your Plants Through Every Phase

As your cannabis plants transition from vegetative to budding phases, their nutrient needs change. During the bud phase, phosphorus becomes critical, which is where our Fish Bone Meal shines with its 5-13-0 NPK. Phosphorus drives big, dense bud growth, while a small amount of nitrogen keeps the plant thriving.

We’ve designed the Stonington Blend Growers Mix and complementary products to take your cannabis from seedling to harvest. Our organic formulations also give you peace of mind—no heavy metals, no harmful chemicals, just pure, organic goodness.

Simplifying the Process

While there are countless products on the market, our goal is to keep it simple. By focusing on soil biology, container size, and providing just what your plant needs, we help you achieve the best possible results without overcomplicating the process.

Stonington Blend Growers Mix is designed to be a complete, organic solution for cannabis growers. Whether you’re growing in large or small containers, indoors or outdoors, we’ve got the tools you need to grow the strongest, healthiest plants—without the hassle.
